Creating a strategy is the first step in Social Media Marketing.  Your goal will be the driving force behind your social media marketing strategy. Don’t procrastinate! Get a piece of paper and start writing down your goals. Some of the keys to setting goals are to be specific, set attainable goals, and set measurable goals. 


Before deciding on a digital marketing strategy, set and document your short-term and long-term goals. Once you have decided on your strategy, outline and document specific goals so you know if your strategy is working.


A part of creating a strategy is understanding your target audience and the type of content they engage with on social media. Make sure you identify the characteristics of your current audience: age, gender, interests, social media behavior, and other factors that define your current audience.


Consistency is Key 

Different audiences use different social media platforms at different times. That is why it is hard to have one rule for all platforms. However, publishing high-quality content is essential to the success of your marketing campaign, especially if you are just getting started, quality > quantity. 


Regardless of the size of your company and the platform you use, pay attention to keeping these elements consistent: brand image, brand's message, and hashtags.

After thoroughly studying the target audience, determine what type of content will be most effective in achieving your goals. It can be:


- Informational content: Publishing news, articles, research, and educational materials.

- User-generated content: Customer experiences and personal stories.

- Entertainment content: Short videos or even memes.


Whichever approach you decide to choose, make sure you keep your content engaging and interesting.

Make sure that besides your main content, you also have a lot of interactive content like: Polls, quizzes, and live streams. For this one, you can use the built-in social media analytics tools that platforms provide for business accounts or you can use analytics tools like Google Analytics to track and analyze incoming traffic to your website. 


Make adjustments to your strategy:

Use the data you collect from your analysis to determine which aspects of your strategy are working well and where there is room for potential improvement.


Continue to monitor performance and keep an eye on changes in your audience and market to ensure your strategy remains relevant.


Know how to adapt to change. Social media is always changing and updating, so be prepared to adapt your strategy to new trends and platforms.
